• HCI. As indicated in George Kurian’s remarks, HCI is expected to be a high-growth segment in the datacenter in the next few years, and NetApp certainly wants to be part of it. Introduction to upcoming Bluetooth Mesh & Low Energy technology

Bluetooth technology is one of the world's best known brands and one of the most ubiquitous wireless communications technologies on the planet. It's been in existence since 2000 and has found its way into billions and billions of devices. Last year alone, over three billion Bluetooth devices were shipped by manufacturers.

Bluetooth mesh networking is the latest chapter in this incredible technology story and 150 companies, all members of the Bluetooth SIG, have helped create it.

Flavors and Features

• Bluetooth Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR)  was the first flavor of Bluetooth to be released. It was intended to act as a cable replacement technology and soon came to dominate wireless audio products and be the enabler for new computer peripherals, such as wireless mice and keyboards.

Origin of the Bluetooth Name

1. Uniting Denmark and Norway in 958.

      2.Code for Collaboration

• In 1996, three industry leaders, Intel, Ericsson, and Nokia, met to plan the standardization of this short-range radio technology to support connectivity and collaboration between different products and industries.

• During this meeting, Jim Kardash from Intel suggested Bluetooth as a temporary code name. Kardash was later quoted as saying, "King Harald Bluetooth...was famous for uniting Scandinavia just as we intended to unite the PC and cellular industries with a short-range wireless link."
